January 9, 2025. A new year, so time for dues to be paid to your very own Neuse River Bridge Club. The minimum to be an active member and to receive whatever you receive is $5. For those not poverty stricken, $10 is a reasonable contribution. Please join! We recently purchased a new server for our Bridgemates so the cupboard is bare.
October 30, 2024. Our Club’s annual Christmas party will be held at the Pavilion in Carolina Colours, in the Tap Room, on Wednesday, December 12. Unlike previous years, you need bring no food, as our chef will be preparing a nice meal, at a cost of $20 for our members. If you are not a member and wish to come, the cost is $345 unless you commit to joining next year at a cost of $5, in which case your charge this year for the meal will be $20 also. Meanwhile, if you want to see what is offered in the Pavilion café, you can google Carolinacolourscolours golf club and in the upper right-hand corner of the home page you will see a “latest” box. Click on it to see specials. Click on “dining” and you can access the full menu.
September 20, 2024. The Pavilion at Carolina Colours has a new chef and his food is outstanding. Be sure to come try it out for lunch any Wednesday or Thursday before bridge. You can see the menu if you go to the Carolina Colours golf website and click on “dining.” There may also be specials which you can find by clicking on “latest” on that same golf homepage.
August 15, 2024. For those that have not heard, Jamie Sue Schmidt, long a stalwart of the bridge community in Carteret and Craven Counties, is moving to Brunswick County to be with family, due to some health concerns. He will be sorely missed. There will be a farewell luncheon with here this coming Sunday, contact Suseen Banks if you want more information regarding that event.
March 11, 2025. Games are now scheduled for 12:15 each Wednesday, year round.
January 15, 2024. For games in the Pavilion this week, you must enter by the main entrance to the building, on the right side if you are facing the building. New flooring is being installed in the library lobby and the hallway leading to the café.
I am sorry to report that Sandra Tant, long time member and frequent player, has not survived her several serious illnesses.
January 4, 2923. For our members, it is time to dig deep and pay your 2024 dues in the amount of $5!

December 28, 2023. The Ace awards recognize those players in our district (which runs from Raleigh to the central coast) that have made the most progress towards achieving different masterpoint totals during 2023. The top 10 in each category are mentioned in the annual report. A number of our players were recognized: Chris Town, 1st and Joe Fogelman 9th in the 50 point category; Bill Dorsey 3rd in 200; Valerie Cozart 2nd in 300; Ken Kirkman 4th in 500; Anna Craft 5th, Liza Worthington 6th and Bonnie Burch 7th in 1000; Suseen Banks 1st, Carolyn Peterson 2nd, Mary Parker 7th, Beth Haigler 9th and Frances Jilcott 10th in 1500; Kathleen Dillingham 1st, Sandy Craft 3rd and Mitch Riley 8th in 2500; Sissy Weil 1st, Tudi Moldestad 2nd and Jamie Sue Schmidt 3rd in 3500; John Gignilliat 1st, Gail Dupree 2nd in 5000; and Mym Young 2nd in 7500. Congratulations to all.
December 14, 2023. IMPORTANT NOTICE. OUR GAMES WILL NOW BEGIN AT 12:15 INSTEAD OF 12:30. IT IS MANDATORY THAT YOU CHECK IN WITH MITCH A MINIMUM OF 5 MINUTES BEFORE GAME TIME, PREFERABLY 10, SO HE CAN GET SET UP TO BEGIN THE GAME ON TIME.
November 20, 2023. THERE WILL BE NO NEUSE RIVER BRDIGE ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 22, DUE TO THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY.
November 3, 2023. Our pot is up to $717 and, hopefully, growing! December 13 is just around the corner. You only have about 5 more Wednesday games to get your required minimum number of games in to qualify for the pot and to add chits to your chance of being a big winner.
October 31, 2023. Our Neuse River Bridge Club’s annual Christmas party will be held before our game on December 13, 2023. All dues paying members are invited and asked, if possible, to bring some food item to share. Remember, all members that qualify for the Pot drawing that day get one token for every Neuse River game played in 2023 plus one for each dollar contributed.

October 25, 2023. I regret having to inform you that Ann, the significant other to Mitch, our director, unexpectedly passed on October 24. Our bridge family sends its condolences.
October 17, 2023. Remember, you must play 7 Neuse (Wednesday) games July 1 through December 4, 2023 AND you must be a member of our club to be eligible for our Pot drawing. October 2, 2023. Following up on our club membership in SE Bridge Club on line, here is some new information you need. The club has continued to grow, now with some 125 face to face clubs as members. It has a new name, SE Club of Clubs. You can access its games through BBO. Go to Virtual Clubs, then ACBL North American, then in the search field enter SE. As indicated below, there are several games a day, usually with a decent number of participants. Our Neuse River Club gets a decent cut of the entry fees, but we only get money when our club members play. Give it a try.
September 19, 2023. Did you know that the Neuse River Bridge Club is one of over a hundred clubs that have come together to form the on-line SE Bridge Club? If you play on-line bridge with your partner, give it a try. You get the master points just like on BBO, but for September only, the games are $3. If you play, our Club gets about 30% of your entry fee. There are games most days at 9:30, 1, 3:45 and some days 7 in the evenings. Go to SE Carolina Bridge to get a full schedule. You can access games through BBO.
